Board-Certified Small Animal Surgeon (Board Certified / Diplomate / Residency Trained)

We are seeking a Board-Certified Small Animal Surgeon to join our multidisciplinary team. This role offers the opportunity to provide exceptional care for small animal patients and make a significant impact on their health and well-being.

Practice / Hospital / Referral Centre Information

Join a privately owned Equine and Small Animal Multi-Specialty Referral & Emergency Services Hospital located in King City, Ontario, Canada. Our facility spans 60,000 square feet and includes:

  • Eight operating rooms
  • Twelve exam rooms
  • Two x-ray rooms
  • An intensive care unit (ICU)
  • A large learning center for knowledge exchange
  • Corporate gym and more
  • We are expanding with two additional phases to enhance our services.

Departments

Become part of a dynamic team of approximately 100 staff members, including Board-Certified Specialists in Small Animal & Equine Surgery, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Neurology/Neurosurgery, Anesthesia, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Oncology, Emergency Services, and Rehabilitation.

Equipment

Our hospital is equipped with advanced diagnostic and surgical tools, including:

  • 3T MRI (GE) for small animal patients
  • 1.5T MRI (Siemens) for equine patients
  • CT-Scan with a robotic arm for equine
  • CT scan for small animal (GE128 slice)
  • C-arm, ultrasound
  • Video endoscopes, rigid scopes
  • Laparoscopy/arthroscopy towers
  • I-Stat and Radiometer
  • Force Triad vessel sealing units
  • TPLO and plate fixation
  • I-loc fracture fixation and total hip replacements
  • High flow oxygen and mechanical ventilation
  • ECG, VCM for Viscoelastic Coagulation

Our rehabilitation center features:

  • Three canine hydrotherapy treadmills
  • A regular canine treadmill
  • An equine hydrotherapy treadmill
  • A canine rehabilitation pool
  • Laser therapy
  • A 6000-square-foot indoor equine ring
  • A hyperbaric chamber

Staffing Levels

Our team comprises approximately 100 dedicated staff members, including:

  • In-House Social Worker
  • Board-Certified Specialists in Small Animal & Equine Surgery, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Neurology/Neurosurgery, Anesthesia, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Oncology, Emergency Services, and Rehabilitation
  • Strong support team of Registered Veterinary Technicians and Animal Care Attendants
  • Type of Individual Sought
  • We are looking for an experienced Board-Certified Surgeon or a residency-trained candidate eligible for Board Certification. The ideal candidate should have excellent technical skills and a collaborative approach to working within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications Required

  • Board Certification in Small Animal Surgery or residency-trained and eligible for Board Certification
  • Strong soft skills, including compassion for animals, colleagues, and clients
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
